Venting is up to you, and if you already have an existing vent to the outside. Most "over the range" microwaves give you the option of either venting to your existing exhaust (to the outside), or recirculating the air through the microwaves internal exhaust function. For example, I installed mine in a rental property, with no external vent. Therefore I set it up for the recirculating function. Hope this answers your question!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The microwave is set to vent outside. There is an option to rotate the blower and add a charcoal filter so it vents inside. It comes with the filter and it’s in the instructions on how to rotate the blower. I do consider myself handy- and it was fairly easy to do. I also had watched a YouTube video prior to give myself a base for how this was going to work. Link to YouTube video: https://youtu.be/wD2OAWHRVZc
