Dear Nacki - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This microwave model JVM3160DFBB is an over-the-range microwave and is not designed to be built into the cabinet. If you would like to replace your JE1860GB built-in microwave, then we recommend model PEB7226DF. You will need to use the new trim kit but should not have to change your cabinet opening.
