- Answer I’m a bit of a handy man, so when I replaced my old over the stove microwave, with a new one that had a fan built in, I just hooked it up to the existing venting. …it’s little bit awkward, but I did all the necessary retrofit. …so depending on your abilities you may call someone to install it. Recently I had one installed through Best Buy because it was for a rental I own.

- Answer Absolutely Not! Maytag is much better quality. This GE will be fine for about a year--until the warranty runs out. Then it will start blowing fuses in the door due to a design flaw. (Read other reviews on the blown fuses.) We finally threw it out--and went with a Whirlpool. (It was such a horrible experience that we vowed to never buy another GE appliance again.)

QuestionWe bought a GE microwave, at first it was great. After two years the buzzer was super soft and the all of a sudden the word vent showed up on screen and the oven turned on but it wouldn't heat up. What can we do to fix this?

- Answer Not sure but I had a previous model and I had to drill new holes for the hanging bolts and for the power cord. Takes two people to lift into place.

- Answer GE should have a filler panel kit, JX52, they wll need to know the color in order to match the side panels.

QuestionI have GE JVM3160DF2WW. I was previously told that JVM3160DFWW was the updated version so that is what I ordered. However, the box says it is model JVM3160DFWW, but the model number listed on the microwave itself is JVM3160DF8WW. Are they the same?

- Answer They are the same model, but with slight changes only in the mounting bar on the back wall and a missing hole for middle, front supporting screw.

QuestionI’ve had this just over 14 months with a 12 month warranty of course. The microwave will power on but will not come on to heat anything. The inside will not power on.

- Answer More than likely the magnetron tube, tge one that generates the microwaves, is bad. They can be pretty fragile.

- Answer I’ll bet you have mounting adjustments to make. I replaced my old GE with a new one that I thought was the same model. I had to reconfigure the attaching points but it was no big deal.

QuestionGE model JVM3160RF8SS. The reheat option only shows 'RH1, RH2... RH6') and if you chose an option it only shows '1,2,or 3' rather than how many cups etc are being reheared. This seems like a glitch. Customer service says its how it is. True?
