A:AnswerHello,
Thank you for reaching out to us at GE Appliances. This is a great question and we are happy to help. If you are replacing a 36" over-the-range microwave, many current 30" over-the-range microwaves offer an optional 36" filler kit to allow it to be installed in a 36" cut-out opening. We would recommend this model PVM9215DFWW as well as this 36" filler kit JX36DWW although it does not have an auto tilt vent at the top it does have external venting. We hope this helps, feel free to reach out again with any other questions you may have. Have a great day!-Avery@GEA

A:AnswerHi Angela! Thanks very much for reaching out! We're happy to see that you're interested in another one of our appliances! When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. We hope that this helps! Please let us know if you need anything else. Stay safe! -Michael@GEA
A:AnswerThis is what I did and I suggest that you do the same. I called GE customer service and gave them the model number of my existing microwave and asked them what microwave I can replace it. It should be the same measurements. The installation may not be same just like mine because you have to remove the old brackets . Believe me I did it all by myself.

A:Answerno, the venting is top, back or front, i have it to the front, which is on top and in front of the microwave
you can switch the fan direction to blow out the top front
A:AnswerI'd have to say there's a good chance of that, especially if it's the same model year as the one you have. But if not, the mounting bracket isn't a deal breaker because they are very easy to swap out.
