I am replacing an over the counter GE Microwave with an external vent fan, Model No. JVM3160RF3SS, manufactured in 2017. The closest model I can find is the JVM3160RFSS. Will it fit and will the fan vent externally? null

We just replaced a similar GE microwave too. Ours was from 2015, maybe 2014. The vent fan was in the exact same place and yes you are able to change the vent to go UP or BACK.

I replaced my F1SS (2016) with this model and there is no size difference. The vent fan is the same and you're able to vent it out the top or move the fan to vent out the back of the unit.

Hello Doug! Thanks for your question. This unit will fit in the same space as your current model and can be vented externally. If you want to vent the unit outside, it will require a hood exhaust duct.
