Q: QuestionMy old model unit was JVM3160EF1ES and the one im looking to purchase as a replacement is model number JVM3160EFES. It is missing the number 1 that my older unit had? Checking if this unit would fit in its place over my stove? Any help would be appreciate

• A:Answer Hi David - Yes, the microwaves have the same dimensions. When you get your new model, you will notice an extra number on the rating plate. When the model is manufactured, these extra letters/numbers are placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. These letters/numbers are used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, these are used as identifiers for the specific appliance. • A:Answer Hi kreyes87 - Yes, the mounting bracket is includes with the microwave. The mounting plate is attached to the back of the microwave oven. Remove the two screws holding it to the microwave oven. The plate will be used as the rear wall template and for mounting the microwave oven to the wall. This should not be an issue unless you have tile on the wall under the microwave. Model JVM3160RFSS is 15-3/4"H in the front and 16 1/2"H in the rear. • A:Answer Hi Linda - The mounting brackets are not exactly the same. When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. • A:Answer I believe there is a fuse. You have to take off the front of the microwave. make sure you unpause the microwave and discharged the energy from the fuse before trying to touch it. I found information on YouTube

We no longer offer a 36" wide over-the-range model. If you are replacing a 36" over-the-range microwave, many current 30" over-the-range microwaves offer an optional 36" filler kit to allow it to be installed in a 36" cut-out opening. If available, the filler kit will be listed in the product specifications. This model is not compatible with a 36" filler kit. GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. • A:Answer It is 30 " wide and fit in the space perfectly. It did require tearing down the old mounting bracket and putting in the new one (which I had hoped to not have to do). We are quite happy with it.
