A:AnswerHi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest!
This over-the-range microwave with exhaust is not designed to be installed in a box/cubby. It is designed, tested and approved by UL for use over a range. It is not designed, tested or approved by UL for any other use.
We suggest to view our countertop model PEM31SFSS for this application. An optional hanging kit (JXA019K0 is available. You can view the specifications and photos at the following link:

We hope this model works for you. Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerI have the recirculating exhaust. it comes out the top and exits along the openings (crevices) along the body of the microwave. If you use the external exhaust option, you need a vent hole to the outside of the house. Note that the fans are rotated differently for the two options.
Good luck and happy heating.
A:AnswerThe venting of your current unit and this unit are the same. All of our 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to replace each other. You will need to use the hardware and brackets that come with your new microwave, as they are model-specific. We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances once again!
A:AnswerMine is not open. I think you are missing a plate that fits right behind the door on the main body. I runs the length of the micro from right to left.
A:AnswerHello, that's a great question! We apologize for any confusion. The model is the same, but the extra 4 is an engineering code. For example, if you needed an extra part, searching for the model number that is on your microwave would allow you to see the part breakdown for your specific model. We hope this helps, and should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us!- Kianna@GEA
A:AnswerYes, and no. The missing 2 is like the generation/variant of the model. I bought one last January, the handle broke off this May/June, I went through a nightmare with Best Buy to replace it with the same model, only to get one that used a different wall mount frame (there are two different ones - it's marked on the box whether the line or the U-shaped frame is inside) and differently positioned cabinet mount holes (my cabinet floor looks like swiss cheese after 3 microwaves). The ne unit also replaced the two incandescent (replaceable with LEDs) surface light bulbs with a halogen bulb that will burn you if you touch the microwave after its been on for a while.
So it's the same functionality and features, but slightly different look and feel. The devil is in the details, unfortunately. Good luck! I hope this information helps save you some headache.
A:AnswerHey there,
We can definitely understand how ear grating the beeping sound can get. Fortunately, there is a way to turn off that beeping. Simply press the "0" button for 3 seconds to turn the sound on or off. Please note that fault beep signals cannot be muted. Have a wonderful day! Mike@GEA
A:AnswerThe hinge side does come off pretty hard. I got mine off without breaking it but I was questioning whether or not it was going to break. It will come off though without breaking though. Just try not to yank on it. Try to pull it with a steady pressure until it comes off.
A:AnswerHi there,
We appreciate your interest in our microwaves! This model microwave can only be installed over a range. If you are seeking a model to be installed inside cabinetry in black, then check out model PEB7227DLBB. We'll provide the specs so you can view dimensions required. https://files.bbystatic.com/6Y3CcukvUw3Q%2BvRvdclByw%3D%3D/85DBFE08-EFD7-474C-A72C-81A9C080C7FD.pdf. A:AnswerHi there, thanks for your interest in our microwaves! All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components as well as help the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. With that said, there are different settings to dictate fan speed so although we may not be able to pinpoint a "quietest" microwave, we can let you know we don't expect you to have too big of issue with the sound level of any microwave you were to purchase. If you have any other questions, you can always message us on social media at any time. We'd love to see you in our GEA family. - Guy@GEA
A:AnswerHi - We hate to hear you're having difficulty making your Christmas goodies. Power levels are a percentage of "on time" for the magnetron tube which cycles on and off to obtain the various levels. Each power level gives the microwave energy for a certain percent of the time. Power level 7 is microwave energy 70% of the time. Power level 3 is energy 30% of the time. Your new microwave may heat at a higher cooking wattage than your previous model. Therefore, we would recommend reducing the cooking time and leaving the power level the same to achieve the results you have in the past. We hope this helps as we do understand the importance of holiday traditions. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA
