A:AnswerHello JR. Over-the-range microwaves require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to the top on the microwave. The 66" minimum from the floor dimension will allow approximately 14"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave.
Please visit the following link to view this microwave mounting space information provided on page 7 of the installation instructions: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40765.pdf

A:AnswerHi Jen - We hope you're enjoying your new microwave and the smudge-proof Slate finish. Thanks for choosing GE. The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual for cleaning the interior of the oven. The same instructions apply to the cover. A:AnswerYes! more to the point though is that it an updated model that appears to have a slightly smaller power rating. maybe 100 watts or so. Everything else is excellent. The fan speed now has 4 levels of power versus 3 previously. The locations of the push button contacts to begin microwaving are somewhat modified but that does not in anyway affect the functionality. The size was extremely important to us and it was an identical match.
Bottom line the price was lower than what we had paid 8 years ago and it’s a perfect match. I don’t think that you will go wrong purchasing this item - and the Best Buy sales personnel were very helpful as were the delivery gentlemen.
Good luck on your purchase.
A:AnswerHello MFDINMD - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Your current JVM3660WD is a 36" wide microwave. We no longer offer a 36" microwave, however, most of our 30" microwaves have optional side panel kits. The good news is that all 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. This JVM7195DKWW with the optional side panel kit #JX36DWW would be a wonderful replacement model. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

A:AnswerHi Kitty- Over- the- range microwaves cannot be used on a counter or shelf. The underside is not flat and would not provide a stable surface. Additionally, there can be a heat issue, especially if the vent fan or surface lights were accidentally turned on. We suggest the following countertop models in Slate: GE Profile™ Series 1.5 Cu. Ft. Countertop Convection/Microwave Oven PEB9159EJES, GE Profile™ Series 2.2 Cu. Ft. Countertop Sensor Microwave Oven PES7227ELES and GE Profile™ Series 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven PEM31EFES. Slate appliances blend with today's premium kitchen materials. The rich matte appearance naturally hides fingerprints and smudges to maintain its beauty.
