“Is this "true" stainless steel on the front, or is it just stainless steel look? Also, would it be really bad for just the lower half to be flush with a dishwasher on the lower half of one side if the top, back, and other side has the designated space?”

Hi Kim- Yes, the refrigerator doors are "true" stainless steel. Also, we recommend 1" air clearance on each side, 4" top and 3" back. If all clearances are met except for only bottom half of one side this should be fine.
