It can NOT be installed flush on the right side. You need at least 2.5 inches to get the door to 90 degrees. 

If you ever need to get a shelf out the door needs to open almost 180 degrees

Hi Trwmab,

YES - The door can be extended beyond 90 degrees. However, it would have to protrude a couple of inches out from the 'flush' side of the cabinetry to fully extend against a wall. When the unit is free-standing the Right-Side-Handed-Door can extend approximately 145 degrees from its fully closed position. Hope this helps. . . .
