“If the ice maker is factory installed, do I still need 2 buy a hose/ice maker kit? does the refrigerator need 2 b hooked up 2 plumbing for water supply? If not, how does the ice maker produce the ice? lastly, wire shelves? really? GE should know better.”

Hello Valued Customer - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This refrigerator has an ice maker and it will have to be connected to a cold water line in order for it to work properly. A water supply kit (containing copper tubing, shutoff valve, fittings, and instructions) is available at extra cost from your dealer. This refrigerator offers glass shelves in the fresh food section.
