A:AnswerWHAT!! Anyone who sees my answer also has access to the Best Buy website's excellent details on this refrigerator: GSS25IYNFS. Just scroll down to "Specifications" and voilà. However, as I thought about this query, I began to remember that there was one detail that was very important for me to clarify before I bought this refrigerator. I was in luck, the BB store I was shopping in had this model on the floor and I was able to measure for myself. ☺︎ ☺︎ ☺︎
The website's values for this refrigerator are: 69 ½" High x 35 ¾" Wide x 34 ¾" Deep.
The website's values for a needed cut-out are: 70 ¼" High x 36" Wide x 24" Deep. (The dimensions for the cut -out need to be bigger to allow the air to circulate.)
So yes, something is amiss with these values for the Depth.
Excluding the thickness of the door, the case (alone) for MY refrigerator is 24" Deep. GE recommends that a space of 2" be provided behind the refrigerator for air circulation. A cut-out of 24" means that 2" of the refrigerator's side would be exposed. And this model's almost black, textured sides are very different from the silky smooth surface of the stainless steel doors.
The doors "bow" a bit; the case does not. At the hinge, each door - including the gasket - is 3" thick. In mid front of the refrigerator, each door - including the gasket - is 4" thick.
If the refrigerator door is opened 90 degrees, the distance front to back is 50". If the freezer door is opened 90 degrees, the distance front to back is 45 ¼".
A Depth of 34 ¾" does not describe MY refrigerator. And thank goodness, since in my kitchen, I would not have been able to open the refrigerator door 90 degrees if that 34 ¾ " value was accurate.
In summary, depending upon which criteria is needed: MY refrigerator is 27" or 28" Deep. Add those two additional inches for the air circulation, the distance from the front of the refrigerator to the wall behind the refrigerator becomes 29" or 30". AND, should one want to open the refrigerator door 90 degrees: 52" would be needed.
