A:AnswerHi marron1 - Model GFD28GBLTS uses RPWFE Water Filter. This product uses radio frequency to detect leaks and monitor filter status. A filter status message will appear on the screen when the water filter needs to be replaced. The filter status will automatically update when the filter is replaced. The ID chip on the filter detects when a wrong or non-genuine GE Appliance part is used. If this happens, the dispenser will not work and the display may read "Leak Detected" or "Reset Water Filter".
