if you don't light the burner an let go of handle gas is shut off to burner

Hi Kevin - If one of the gas knobs is left open without ignition, there is not an automatic shut-off or re-light feature. If one of the gas knobs is left open without ignition, the knob would need to be manually shut off to stop the gas flow. Thanks for checking with us! Sue
