Hi FISHHEAD - Yes, Model JVX5360SJSS can be used with both electric and gas cooking products. All current GE vent hoods can be installed over gas cooking products with combined surface burner BTU rating of approximately 65,000 BTUs or less. These products are not recommended for use above any range or cooktop that has a combined surface burner BTU rating over 65,000 BTUs. Combined surface burner rating does not include the oven/broiler BTUs. Exception: If the cooking product is over 65,000 BTUs but does not specify that a high performance (high CFM) hood needs to be installed, then you can proceed with the vent of your choice.
