This is the size recommended for areas up to 2000 square feet that feel damp and smell musty all the time, or in which moisture can be seen on the walls, or in which you've dealt with mold growth in the past. ~If sized properly, a dehumidifier should maintain the relative humidity level that is set on the controls. The optimum relative humidity level for a room is generally between 30% and 50%. If the dehumidifier is oversized for the area, the unit may cycle on and off more often and some decline in performance could be noticed. Take a look at the following chart that should help. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16791 If you have any questions in the future, please let us know.
