Have you felt the air coming out on the outside? It’s hot...I highly doubt bugs are going to want to fly into it. You would probably have to take the hose off the unit and rinse it out...that would be my guess. I have the screens on the windows.

Portable Air Conditioners, with a single hose, pull air from within the room only, and expel warmed air and moisture outside. You should not expect an issue with bugs. Your Owner's Manual will highlight the best ways to clean and maintain your portable air conditioner. The air filters should be cleaned at least every two weeks for your unit to operate at optimum efficiency. You'll find the cleaning instructions on page 7 of the Owner's Manual at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-5000439-1.pdf - Or view this link- PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER - CLEANING & MAINTENANCE: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=39002 - If you have any additional questions, we are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com.
