Hello - Thanks for your question; we are happy to help! In the event of a power failure, the surface burners may be lit with a match. Using extreme caution, hold a lit match near the ports beneath the surface burner cap, then slowly turn the knob to the LITE position. Once lit, surface burners will continue to operate normally. In the event of a power failure, the ovens are inoperable and no attempt should be made to operate them. Thanks for checking. Olga@GEA

Please try again later.Yes both top and bottom are gas, in regards to a power outage you would need to have a lighter to start the flame but it would work only to light burners. As far as using the oven itself during an outage same thing apples if you get a flame stated at the burners down there then yes. I hope this helps!
