Hi Lee, thanks very much for reaching out to us about this! The immersion blender is more designed to help blend smoothies or maybe cake mix. If you mash the potatoes beforehand and want to blend some items into the already mashed food, you could potentially use the immersion blender for that! I have not use it for mash potatoes.
