A little out of date for Tom at this point, but I am now on my third of these microwaves so will share for others who might be interested. I bought one last Friday but the turntable made a clicking, and sometimes a grinding, noise. Worse clockwise than counterclockwise. I knew from experience that was not normal. Getting it replaced at Best Buy was easy, and the new one is quiet (like normal). Apparently the turntable noise is just an occasional manufacturing defect. - take it back for a replacement if you get one of these. Not bad for a small microwave, but as everyone knows the price is ludicrous because people need it to fit in their cabinetry (the guy ahead of me in line when i returned my defective one was buying the exact same model and was equally frustrated with lack of alternatives).

While the turntable is turning, it is normal for the tray to hesitate, jerk, drag, or pause. The turntable can turn in either direction when the microwave starts cooking. For example, the tray might rotate clockwise one time and counter-clockwise the next, or turn clockwise twice in a row. Electrical circuitry causes this direction change, and is normal. It is also normal for the tray to change direction when the cooking or defrost cycle is interrupted (paused). Make sure the turntable is centered and seated properly on the ring. Check the turntable to make sure it is placed right side up. If the turntable plate is upside down it will drag on the floor of the microwave. If the above suggestions do not solve the issue, we recommend contacting BestBuy for exchange policy.
