“Can this microwave be installed in a 12"D upper cabinet & be safe?Twice above GE reps said yes to the 12" cabinet but the file reps attached specifies a 16" cabinet depth. Is the instruction ONLY for ABOVE an electric oven? How deep just itself installed?”

Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to us about this. We're so sorry for the conflicting information you've seen about this. This microwave requires 18" minimum if the receptacle is in cabinet or 16" minimum if the receptacle is outside the cabinet despite the it being 12.875" deep. This is to ensure proper airflow.
