“We have a built in GE Profile Microwave Model # PNM1971SR1SS. It is at least 7 years old and the keypad has a short. I don't know if it is worth the cost of repairing it. If not, which microwave will fit in the space? Do I need to purchase a trim kit?”

Hi there, and thank you for reaching out to us. We hate to hear you've had an issue with the keypad of your current model, and know that must be concerning. If you'd like to inquire about a replacement part, that department can be reached at 1-877-959-8688. If you do need a new model, we are glad to advise all of our 30” over-the-range microwaves (which is what your current model is classified as) have approximately the same width and are built to fit a 30” cabinet opening. Any model of this type will therefore work as a replacement for your existing model; PVM9179SKSS is one of our many microwaves that would work. If you do obtain a new microwave, please note the new mounting bracket would need to be used, as those are model specific. The mounting bracket would be included, and a filler kit is available if needed for your space. A trim kit would only be used if you were converting a countertop microwave to a built-in look; we would not recommend using a countertop model, as it hasn't been configured for use over a range.
