Q: QuestionDoes this same microwave come as a built-in type or model? I don't need the over the range or countertop models. I need to replace a 20 year old GE built-in microwave that is already installed into the wall of the kitchen.

Q: QuestionIHAVE AN XL-1800 WHICH HAS A HORIZONTAL VENT WHICH VENTS INSIDE THE SPACE. I DO NOT HAVE DUCKWORK TO OUTSIDE. WILL THIS MICROWAVE WORK??

• A:Answer Hi SNOOPDOG- Yes, the microwave can be converted to recirculating (non-vent). When the microwave is converted to recirculating and not vented to the outside, the air will be recirculated through a disposable charcoal filter (included) that helps remove smoke and odors. Q: QuestionI am replacing JVM1640WB over the range microwave. I bought a different model and had to return it since the mounting hole on the top of the new one I bought sits right on the top of the cabinet lock .Any model that is similar to the mounting holes?

• A:Answer Hi Amethyst - When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Q: QuestionAbout our PVM9005 - Inside the microwave, on the right side wall there is a square of cardboard 4-1/2 inches by 4-1/2 inches. It covers an opening. My wife is concerned it will "catch fire" and wants to remove it. What is this? Should we remove it?

Q: QuestionMy microwave lost power all of a sudden. Where does it have a reset button or where is it connected? I can't find any connections to it. Are they normally behind the unit and in the wall?

Try disconnecting power on your microwave at the power source for about 30 seconds to reset the electronics. On some occasions the electronics may develop a glitch. Removing the power supply to the unit may allow the electronics to reset. If this suggestion does not resolve the situation, I recommend scheduling a service appointment with an authorized GE Appliance technician who can accurately diagnose and correct the issue. For safety reasons, we cannot offer do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to high voltage (capacitor holds a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). • A:Answer We no longer manufacture a 36"W microwave; however, we have 36" filler kits for almost every model. One of the few models that will not work with a 36" filler is the PVM9005. Q: QuestionIf I interrupt cooking before the time is complete, say I set a plate of food for 2 minutes and pull it after 1:30. And I take my food, close the door with 30 seconds left. Will it wait that way indefinitely, or does the time eventually clear?

Q: QuestionCan this unit be used with an inside wall location? We currently have one in the wall with a trim kit. Since this doesn't have a trim kit, does that mean it is not suitable in the wall? Which GE microwave would you recommend?

The only difference between the 27" and 30" trim kit is the trim frame. If the microwave is installed over a 27" or 30" wall oven, be sure to match the trim kit width to the oven. Q: QuestionI am looking to buying this microwave to replace an older 36" wide one. Is there a spacer or trim kit that goes with this model? i have a 6" difference and would hate to have gaps between cabinets.

• A:Answer No there isn't a trim kit that fits. The bestbuy and GE website states there is one, but its wrong. We purchased both, but the kit doesn't fit once they tried to install the microwave. We had to purchase another microwave instead.
