• Yes to both questions. There is a small lever that you pull, then lift up the tray. I have never had the ice fall out. Not sure I'm really answering your question though. The ice tray is in the refrigerator portion (top left door), so you don't don't open the freezer door to get to the ice tray. Maybe that was just on your Samsung.

• The ice tray is easy to remove. It is very small though. The ice does stay in place when you open drawers or doors.
