“Does this item has real stainless steel knobs or are they plastic that look like stainless steel? I purchased the GE 30" (not profile) that was less expensive and the plastic knobs are already causing problems so I am looking to see if I need to upgrade.”

Plastic! Didn't realize it when we purchased. 1st use, melted! The skillet was over the grate toward the knob by less than a 1/2". Melted! $25.00 to replace!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The G.E. Profile Cooktop has heavy, metal knobs. I didn't think I would like the middle 5th burner, but we use it all the time. I also like that it has 4 different size burners. The only thing I don't like about the cooktop is that it is hard keep it looking clean. When you wipe it down and dry it right away, the stainless looks smeared. I'm particularly fussy about having the cooktop looking good, but it's not easy to do.
