QuestionWhat 36” trim kit do I use with this 30” model GE Profile 1.7 cu. ft convection OTR microwave? Must be stainless steel. My old microwave was 36” total so that’s the cabinet size opening.

QuestionAre the controls on the face lighted? My current GE Convection/Microwave controls are not lighted and if the room is dark, as it is in the morning when i put my coffee in the microwave, I can't see the buttons I'm touching.

- Answer Chef connect refers to its ability to connect with an oven. Sensor cooking is the systems ability to sense when cooking is done. It works remarkably well

- Answer Hello - The Reset Filter indicator means it's time to change the charcoal/grease filter. This filter should be replaced when it is noticeably dirty / discolored (usually after 6 -12 months depending on hood usage) or filter replacement LED is on. - Answer If you use the recommended installation company watch out - they scratched the cooktop in multiple places and will not correct the damage. Best Buy will not help get the company to repair the damage. Good luck.

- Answer Greetings, We'll be glad to answer your question. All our over-the-range microwaves are designed to fit into a 30" cabinet opening. This makes choosing a replacement a breeze. So yes, this model is a fine replacement choice. Please note however, that you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. We hope this helps. Mike@GEA

QuestionI want to use this microwave as a built-in but NOT over the range. It has a vent fan on the bottom so can it be used without that feature or do you have a model similar that you would suggest that doesn't have the vent option at all. Please Help!

- Answer Good day, Thanks so much for reaching out. We'll be glad to assist you! Our over the range microwaves cannot be installed in cabinets or spaces where the bottom is covered. They can be installed in a cabinet even if there's not a cooking product underneath, but the height clearances must still be met. If that is not possible to do, we recommend checking out one of these built-in models: PEB9159SJSS or PEB7227ANDD. While they may not have as many features as model PVM9179SRSS, they are designed to be built in. Let us know if you have any other questions. Mike@GEA

QuestionWe have a 6 yr old GE convection micro oven blinking out. Reset the clock and open the door and again goes dead. Plug connection is secure. Is this a short in the circuitry behind the panel which can not be repaired or replaced.

The microwave doors have an outer door, a mesh screen in the window, and a plastic shield or film that covers the screen. The outer part of the door is plastic. - Answer Hello - thank you for reaching out to us. We checked the information for this unit, and sensor cooking features can still work with a plastic cover for the food.
