Try all of these, in this order: 1. Open Device Manager and look for a question or exclamation mark next to the sub-categories of "Audio inputs and outputs" and "Sound, video and game controllers. (If none? Skip to the next step.) Reinstall and/or update drivers for those that do. Check sound. 2. Open the Control Panel and click on Sounds. Run test and configuration steps on all tabs. Check sound. No change? Skip to the next step. 3 . Try running the Troubleshooter. You can do this by clicking on the Windows icon, then typing "Troubleshooter,' then selecting the sound option(s). No change? Skip to the next step. 4. Check to see whether you can hear anything when using headphones instead of the native speakers.
