There are browser extensions to disable this behavior if you stream from a computer, but there isn't a way to turn it off that I know of. I do think it is app specific, though, so I think it is something with how the App developer (Netflix) is working with Google's Chromecast API.

That's just something you'll encounter with Netflix, regardless of what you're watching it on. I have that happen to me on my tablet, laptop, and TV.

You can alter this in settings but it does this to save internet storage/bandwith
