Hi Andy. Thank you for your interest. They are the same unit, the only difference being that the combo kits comes with multiple accessories. Having the short gun, mitts, and 15" surface cleaner included does extend the the list of diy cleaning jobs you are able to complete around your home. It does come down to preference in the end.
