Yes. It will protect from UV. But not from brightness or glare. I would highly suggest using polarized sunglasses with UV protection for outdoor use. If this is not helpful enough call an optometrist's office. I'm sure they will answer this for you for free with more detail

Not sure why you would want to wear theses vs a regular pair of sunglasses outside. 
I would say these are more for indoor use

These were for my son who works on computer screens 12-14 hours a day!  He absolutely loves these glasses. Started easing the tension in eye and neck strain immediately!!!
