Yes, but it works a treat! Better than battery operated ones that have the batteries carrode and ruin the can opener and leave you without! Use the magnet to take it off the can and carefully remove.

Certainly not sharp enough that I have noticed. It is much better than my old hand held opener. Those were sharp. I am very careful with can lids that have been removed.
