The other community answer explained that you need an antenna and router. I want to cover which device is best for you. The two big questions are: 1. how many things are you going to watch/record at the same time? 2. Do you plan on DVRing a lot? If you plan on using a DVR quite a bit and don't want to build your own, the HDHomeRun SCRIBE is probably the best answer. If you like to build stuff or don't plan on recording much the HDHomeRun CONNECT is the answer. From there, you decide QUATRO (4 tuners) or DUO (2 tuners). If it's just you and you aren't going to record much, the DUO is fine. Otherwise, the QUATRO is best.

A cross-over cable is not required.” In either case, you are still going to need WiFii, as all the channels are sent to your TV(s) or other devices via the HDHomerun App, which has to be downloaded (free) and activated on each device you plan to use. To the second part of your question, there are many models. Here are some options: HDHomerun Connect Duo allows you to stream to a max of two devices at a time, Connect Quatro permits four. Both allow you to record OTA channels only by using an external hard drive or a flash drive with at least 128gb of storage. Newer models - HDHomerun Scribe Duo and Scribe Quatro are basically the same as the other two described above with the addition of built in storage and dvr to record up to 150 hours of programs. And the really beefy model, HDHomerun Servio will allow recording up to 300 hours. The HDHomerun Prime allows to you watch Cable programs with a Cable Card, HD Homerun says, “In the US this includes all your premium channels using HDHomeRun PRIME (DRM content record and playback planned for a future release, and a key feature to add to our service).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you also need an antenna & router (to transmit to your tv/streaming device). Which version you get depends on how many TVs/devices need to watch at the same time? I think they offer 2 (duo) or 4 (quad).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You need an antenna. The coax portion of the antenna screws into the homerun hd. Then you need your router. The ethernet cable runs from the homerun hd and connects directly to the router.
