I have the same issue with connectivityand purchased the Linksys velop whole home Wi-Fi system to replace my extender which is far more expensive and am still having the same issues

I would get an all in one WiFi/Router/Broadband system. Make sure to contact your provider for service to let them know. It's easy to install, save your money.

Did you try the WPS button on your router? If that doesn't work you need to go to your computer & go to the address of your router. Maybe you can go to YouTube to see of there is a video on how to set it up. 
You could also relocate your router. This might eliminate the need for an extender. I have a Netgear Nighthawk X6. I can set out on the porch & still get on the Internet.
