Yes, it has 2 built in overheat protection. It also has a programable thermostat so you can set the temperature you want and the heater will cycle on and off to maintain that temperature. It has an auto-off timer too. And a motion sensor turns the heater off if something comes within 6" in front of it. It has so many features I did not know of until I started using it.
