• There are separate receptacles for clean water and cleaning solution on the top tank. The tank includes a knob on the front that toggles between "Rinse" and "Wash". "Wash" allows the water to mix with the cleaning solution; "Rinse" stops the mixing and allows only water to be sprayed.

• The water tank is separate at the top where there is also a small separate area that holds the carpet cleaning product. They only combine when the dial is set on Wash. When you change the dial to Rinse, only clean water comes out. The bottom tank holds only the dirty water.
