The battery is non-replaceable and uses a standard 18650 lithium battery; the brightness can be adjusted in three levels by long pressing the button. ---Hototools

With the diffuser on, the brightness is softened and the flashlight serves more like a small lamp. We've used it a couple times during power outages. It provides adequate light for a small room like a kitchen or bedroom in an emergency. Very handy item, I like to use it when taking the dog out at night.
