you will need computer to connect to it . PC or laptop has HDMI, Display port with this connection you can use the monitor web browsing, email, watch video . And with PC or laptop has GPU you can play game on it, you connect the same with HDMI or Display port. And With MACBOOK if you have USB- C thunderbolt you will need adapter from usb-c Thunderbolt to HDMI or Display port to connect to monitor .
