Usually the product might have had a problem and has to be refurbished by the manufacturer, mostly it's just setting it back to manufacturer defaults but from many studies most of the products did not have any problem, they were mostly store returns that can't be sold as new because the product was used by the buyer, so it's reset to manufacturer recommended settings. I have bought and tried many refurbished products and have never had a problem.
