“This hyper drive is not being recognized on my Mac book. I am trying to connect my swim buds MP3 player and it is not recognizing them. Also for pictures from a sd card it will not recognize it either. Is it faulty? What can I do to remedy these issues?”

mine just plugged right into the left side of my MacBook Pro and all ports work perfectly...I would call Best Buy and exchange for a new one...sorry I couldn't be more helpful but sounds like a default
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I only use this to connect monitor, mouse and printer, which are compatible with Mac. Maybe the files in SD memory were not Mac compatible?
