The amount of gbs in a graphics card is the amount of vram or video ram. Video ran is a very fast form of ram. When a game is played all the data of the graphics is stored into the vram. This allows you to run games really fast. The 3gb is perfectly fine right now however in the future he might want to upgrade to a 1070 or the next generation of graphics cards for a better experience. But as of right now 3gbs is perfectly fine but the 6gb is more future proof
