“Can the speakers be charged by other means than the sun. I saw they us rechargeable batteries but didn't see anywhere that they are solar until I had the box in hand. And how far apart can they be to work. Also can they be paired with a JBL Partybox 110?”

Bob- Yes, you are able to charge the speakers with the USB Type-C that come with the speakers. No you cannot pair with JBL or any other speakers.
