• No, can't use 12V DC, unless you are converting through an inverter to 110V AC. This set requires connection to a standard USA 110v AC household outlet.

• It's not 12VDC capable. I use it for my camper. There is no such thing as camper proof. Handle it with care and you'll be good. Buy an inverter if you want it to run off of 12VDC.
