The setting may vary depending on the load. I turned mine to the lowest possible temperature and it never froze anything. If you want to fine tune the setting, get a small refrigerator thermometer and keep an eye on the temp, something around 35°F should work well. I wouldn't put dairy in the door, that area is subject to greater temp fluctuation and is better for items that won't spoil (waters and soda)
