You need to connect to a receiver and the turntable connected to the the same receiver in order to make them work

Please try again later.By now, I'm sure you have it figured out, but many turntables require connection to a receiver/amplifier; speakers are attached to the output speaker connections on the back of a receiver/amplifier. Perhaps a bit of 40 year disconnect, but quality turntables do not have onboard amp/pre-amp, and can not properly drive speakers. The left/right output lines you see on your turntable are meant to plug into the left/right input plugs on the back of a stereo receiver, they are not speaker connections.
