If your phone can make a WiFi hotspot, then you should be able to connect the TV to that hotspot, and be able to use the available Gigibytes from your phone service to watch netflix and amazon prime movies. You may need to purchase a chromecast device and connect that to your tv's HDMI port to be able to cast from you phone for other things.

An earlier answer from Insignia when asked about an iPhone, the answer was yes with an HDMI connection from phone to TV. Also, if a Chromecast is attached to the TV, wouldn't one be able to 'cast' from any phone to the TV thru the Chromecast attachment? I don't mean to confuse the issue, but I am not sure of the flat out NO answer regarding using your Android phone to stream....but in my estimation, to possibly make it work, it would take an additional electronic item to facilitate that process. I wonder if Insignia could address that process for you.
