Yes, it can, as long as your laptop or CPU tower has a dedicated hdmi port or has casting capablities will you be able to use it as a computer monitor. You can even run a wireless mouse and keyboard set from the tv to work it. Sadly, no, this TV does not have word processing capabilities unless you use Microsoft Word or Google Docs on the internet app. Not saying you should try.
