I don’t own a smart tv so I want to understand how this works. On another older model tv, it’s hooked up to a cable box & I have a fire stick to access Netflix.
I also have Amazon prime.

You will be able to get both Amazon prime AND Netflix 
During setup of this TV it will ask you to set up a WiFi connection. Simply choose your home WiFi, enter your password for the WiFi and then click on these apps and enter your login info and you’re all set

This TV has the Fire TV experience already built-in, you can connect the TV to your Wi-Fi and access Netflix also Prime Video. Hook up your Cable Box to the HDMI input on the TV.

I bought this for my mom. She has her cable box hooked up to it. I don’t live close to her though to of set it up completely. All she has to do is switch it to HDMI to get to her cable box. Cuz when she powers up the tv it brings up the fire stick home menu

You would still need a cable box if you want to get your cable channels.
