I don't feel that it makes much noise. It occasionally makes some growling sounds that are actually quite funny! But the sounds are not loud. We have ours in the dining room, where I work on my computer and it doesn't bother me one bit. So I don't know if it would bother a sleeping person. It would depend on how soundly the person sleeps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The unit is not loud at all sometimes I have to go check to make sure it’s actually on because I cannot hear it. You can turn the light on but then it turns off automatically sometimes that’s the only way I know it’s on. If you place it in a room that has carpet I suggest to place some type of 2 x 4 or some type of word to elevate so that the unit can breathe and not overheat.
