Thank you for your inquiry! The Insignia™ 3.1 Cu. Ft. Retro Mini Fridge with Top Freezer requires manual defrosting, which means you’ll need to periodically remove frost buildup yourself. To defrost it, unplug the fridge, remove all food, and leave the freezer door open to allow the ice to melt naturally. Place towels or a shallow pan underneath to catch the water, and once the ice has melted, wipe down the interior before plugging it back in. The frequency of defrosting depends on usage and humidity, but generally, you should defrost it whenever frost buildup reaches about 1/4 inch thick, which typically occurs every few weeks to a couple of months. Regular defrosting helps maintain efficiency and keeps the freezer working properly. Keith | Insignia Support
