All USB 3.0 Ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Your old cable should work unless it is damaged. This cable will work to connect a USB mini type a to either a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0. (it is a 2.0)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it should work. I have an old laptop that has both 2.0 and 3.0 and I've used it in the newer port.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This cable is not USB 3.0 but it will work fine with USB 3.0 ports on a computer. All 3.0 ports and cables are compatible with lower versions of USB but they will only work at the lower versions speeds. If it is not being recognized, it may be an issue with your current cable, but it is not an issue with the USB versions. Trying a new cable isn't going to hurt though.
